Here’s a project that I’ve wanted to start for a while. It’s been in my head probably for a couple years. Tweeting something kind and uplifting to one person every day for a year. It was always something that I thought I should start on January 1st, but I’m starting on June 1st.
Years ago I heard about a comedian who was going through a tough time. And someone had written or tweeted or said something or other about his mental health. I didn’t know the guy personally at all. He was famous enough you’d know his name but not so famous he’s got a team of assistants managing all his affairs.
I thought it would be an uplifting gesture to tweet out something nice to him. So I did. I have no idea if he ever saw it or not, though if he did hopefully it helped him and brightened his day a bit.
Everyone’s a tough guy behind a keyboard. And if you’re even semi-famous you probably get a ton of nasty and condescending remarks from people.
I think the world needs some good feelings and good vibes. I’ll keep it simple and say something uplifting to one person who is in the public eye, every day for 365 days.
Today I wish all good things to Lolo Jones who I first heard of years ago during the Olympics and have followed her here and there since.
