If you are not familiar with Kayak.com, it is basically a search engine for travel. Type in your date and where you want to go and it brings up different airline options. Simple. Recently Kayak unveiled a great tool called, “Explore.” This tool which I’ve linked here, allows you to enter where you live and the airport you’ll be leaving from. Kayak then tells you all the places in the world you can travel, and the exact price for each date. It’s a minor change on the search engine but it’s a fantastic and fun tool.
It’s the equivalent of saying, “I have $300 to spend on a ticket and I want to go somewhere this weekend, or next weekend, or the end of the month… where can I go?” Kayak Explore will tell you.
I’ve used the tool a few times and even found a $98 dollar roundtrip ticket from Des Moines, Iowa to Denver, Colorado. The tool puts a new twist on searching for travel and helps limit the excuses of not being able to travel. I’d highly recommend checking it out and being adventurous. If you want to go somewhere over an upcoming weekend, but don’t really care, “I just want to get away.” Kayak Explore is great to use.
Link does not appear to take us to a tool as stated, but to a page on another blog.
Wow thanks. Iv heard of the search tool but never followed up on it. You put it very simple! I’ll check it out! I love your site by the way. Makes me rethink life in more than a few ways 😉
Matthew, check out the second link at the end of my post.
Thanks Adam!
I also keep an eye on the travel sections in the paper as the airlines and travel agents will advertise their special fares.
Kemel I’ve never tried that but that’s definitely another good tool to keep in mind.
