Trade 6 is now official. I traded my 65″ 4K Television for a Macbook Pro!
Estimated Trade Value Increase:
$1,000 ➡️ $1,300
This trade took me the longest since I began this project, a bit over three weeks.
For this one instead of gauging different offers as they came in, I decided there were one or two things I wanted to hold out for.
The #1 item on my list was a Macbook Pro, especially one with the M1 processing chip. These retail for about $1,300 and I firmly believed the “Apple” name would allow me to trade it quite easily for the next item. 🍏
Finally I messaged someone who was actually selling a macbook so she could buy a new tv!
The MacBook is a 2020 13″ inch with the M1 chip. It’s in INCREDIBLE condition and is only a few months old. The seller didn’t have the original 60w charger though they did have a smaller 12w official Apple charger. I decided it was still worth it and made the trade.
I was ecstatic, but only when I got home did I learn this trade was even better. 💻
When the computer was bought a few months ago, they also purchased 3 years of apple care. That alone sells for $250. Good through spring of 2024!
All total, if this computer was purchased brand new w/ apple care, the retail price would be nearly $1,650! 🥳
With my trades though, I don’t believe the value is equal to what something is currently selling for.
For example why would someone pay me $1,650 for my macbook when they could pay that to Apple directly for a brand new one in the box? (They wouldn’t)
So I do always take factors into consideration to give my trade a realistic valuation. I’m going to put the value of this trade at $1,300. The 3 years of free apple care is HUGE and a major value added!
In less than two months, I’ve turned a rock from the backyard into a nearly brand new Macbook Pro! 😉
With my sixth trade complete I’ve also succeeded in my first attempt to acquire a specific item. I went out to get a Macbook Pro and I got it!
